1, 2 or 3 ? or why choose anyway

Let's talk "experimenting".

It feels sometimes that we are mostly driven to finding one single voice, one single way of expressing. I am almost certain that this is something so deeply rooted in our culture, that we sometimes think it is also what's best for us.

As long as it comes from the same source, experimenting is always welcomed. And what I mean by saying the same source, is mainly the urge to play.

Play is an inherent value in the arts; in making and even "reading" through pieces of art.

Play is an authentic drive that we seem to forget in the need to produce more and more art, in the need to be upfront in a world that only seems to be going faster every day.

Usually, when there is an idea I want to produce, I usually have the urge to frame it in what I have already done; like I need this kind of reassurance that even though it is a new idea it will nicely fit into the works I ve already made; like a small piece of magnet that will immediately fit with the rest of the work.

However, lately I ve been feeling less comfortable with being comfortable.

I am thinking more and more that maybe, experimenting is a process not done all at once. Like walking slowly into new waters by first dipping one toe, and then the other etc.

There is a need to dive deeper, with a heart that feels less attached to previous works.

A beloved mentor of mine once told me:

"What we see we can't un-see"

Think about what this would mean for our little playful mind once we allow it to access new possibilities.
